Paused Indefinitely
At Mid-Columbia Mastersingers, we believe that singing and musical collaboration can significantly enhance children's confidence, discipline, and creativity. Despite our efforts to maintain our youth choir program, low enrollment has led us to pause this program indefinitely, trusting that local schools are fulfilling this need.
Our organization remains committed to our vision of making choral music accessible to all ages and cultures, whether through partnerships or future programs. We encourage families to explore local school offerings and stay connected with Mid-Columbia Mastersingers for upcoming opportunities.
History of the Mastersingers Youth Choirs
The Mid-Columbia Boys' Choir for boys with unchanged voices in 4th-7th grade was launched in 2014. Over 4 years, the Boys' Choir grew to over 30 members and performed throughout our community, with the Mid-Columbia Ballet, the Mid-Columbia Symphony, the Mid-Columbia Youth Symphony, at Dust Devils games, at Martin Luther King, Jr. children's events, and many others. The success of this choir, along with rising demands for a girls' choir and choirs for older youth, inspired the creation of Mastersingers Youth, a more complete program of youth choirs. Now the Boys' Choir, Girls' Choir, Bass Choir, and Treble Choir, these four distinct ensembles allow our directors to focus on the unique needs of each group, providing much-needed support and education, and encouraging our youth to perform exceptional music in our community. We hope that this is just the beginning of a thriving youth choir program that will see benefits to hundreds of youth in southeastern Washington.
The Mastersingers Youth Choirs had opportunities to perform in an array of venues and with several local and regional distinguished musical groups, including other choirs, symphonies, ballet and theater groups, and of course, with the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers adult choir groups.
